Brad Paisley Got a "D" in His First College Guitar Class

BRAD PAISLEY is always getting props for his mad skills on the guitar. And rightly so, he's way good. So how surprising is it to hear he got a "D" in his first guitar class at Belmont University. Brad talked about it in his book, "Diary of a Player". He wrote, quote, "I, Brad Paisley, future multiple winner of the 'Guitar Player' magazine reader's poll for best country guitarist . . . got a D in guitar." The bad grade was because Brad flaked on class, like, all the time. For some reason, his teacher had a problem with him "not even showing up or learning anything" he was told to learn.

Brad Paisley Is Donating Proceeds From His New Song "Hard Life" . . . To A Very Worthy Cause

BRAD PAISLEY did a really cool thing. He recorded a song called "Hard Life", which was written by his friend Joe Kindregan. Joe suffers from a rare, fatal genetic disease called A-T, or ataxia-telangiectasia.(--It's also called Louis-Bar syndrome.) The song is from Joe's point of view and he doesn't pull punches about what it's like living with A-T. And yet, he remains totally positive. It's pretty inspiring. Here's Brad talking about his buddy. He says, quote, "I've known Joe for several years and he is one of my favorite people. "His disease is physically debilitating but obviously creatively and mentally Joe has such tremendous depth. It's an honor for me to be the person to give voice to his creativity and cause."
Brad is donating all of his artist royalties from the digital version to the A-T Children's Project.

Brad Paisley Doesn't Like People Saying He Has a Charmed Life.

It may seem like things have come pretty easily for BRAD PAISLEY, but they haven't, and they don't, and he wants you to know that. Brad says, quote, "I cringe every time I read 'The Charmed Life of Brad Paisley' in 'Country Weekly' or 'People' or something, you know, because I do look like I've got it made . . . and I do have it made. "But I always cringe because the 'charmed life' leaves out sleepless nights in the studio and years and years of work."

Well put Brad! Nothing (that's worth it) is easy to get!

Brad Paisley’s Son Tries to Impress Carrie Underwood With ‘Cave Man’ Moves!

Before Brad Paisley filmed the ‘Remind Me’ video, his son Huck (William Huckleberry) had a chance to meet Carrie Underwood for the first time. The 4-year-old has long had a crush on the blond singer, and Paisley says his boy made the most of his opportunity. “He got all excited. He had to pick out what he was gonna wear,” Paisley said during a CMA Awards press conference. “He picked out a Batman shirt.” Paisley and Underwood are once again hosting tonight’s ABC broadcast. "[He] bought me flowers, wrote me a note, showed me karate moves and stuff,” Underwood added, smiling. It’s clear she finds the adulation adorable. Paisley finds it hilarious, if not a little confusing. “And then I looked over,” Paisley continued, “and they had been talking for a little bit, and he’s standing beside the couch … and he’s got the pillow from the couch and he’s pushing it up as high as he can get it over his head and he goes, ‘Hey, Carrie. Look how strong I am.’” “I don’t know what kind of cave man these kids turn into, but it sort of starts really early,” Paisley said. He then went on to share that Huck has been checking out other women recently, specifically Kimberly Perry from the Band Perry, who’ll be touring with Paisley in 2012. “There’s still Jasper,” the shocked and heartbroken Underwood meekly whispered into her microphone. Jasper is Paisley’s youngest son, who has also shown interest in Underwood. When the two met, he stared up at the singer for an uncomfortable amount of time.

The Cops Pulled Brad Paisley Over for DUI . . . Even Though He Was Stone Cold Sober!

When was the last time you heard about a celebrity getting pulled over for DUI and then let go, because they were stone cold sober? Never? Well, here's your first. It happened to BRAD PAISLEY, whom, as you may know, doesn't drink or smoke. He told "Nightline", quote, "I got pulled over the other day for suspected DUI, which was funny because I'm never drunk.I hadn't had a drink at all. "I had two kids in the back seat. We had been to get ice cream. And to my kids, it was the greatest thing that's ever happened. They ran through the house when we got home telling everybody that Daddy got arrested." One more thing about Brad's interview with "Nightline". He was asked if there are any surprise headliners coming up at next week's CMAs, which Brad is co-hosting with CARRIE UNDERWOOD. There is. Brad said, quote, "HANK WILLIAMS JR. "I know Hank really well. He shouldn't have said what he said, but I know Hank, and I like Hank. (We thought), let's figure something out he can do to make up for it, if that fits, so he can start a comeback."

Here's Brad's full interview on "Nightline".

Brad Paisley Tweets Picture of Carrie Underwood’s ‘New Look’

Brad Paisley continues to treat Carrie Underwood like a kid sister. The two country superstars are preparing up for their third stint co-hosting the CMA Awards next month, and the ‘Camouflage’ singer is getting started with the jokes early. In a recent tweet, Paisley said, “Hadn’t seen Gooberwood in a while, til today. She looks…uh… healthy.” He added this picture of the previously very trim and fit country beauty. Now we can’t be completely sure that Underwood hasn’t grown three chins in recent weeks or months, but she was looking her best in Las Vegas last month. A more likely explanation for Underwood’s increased buoyancy is an iPhone app that allows one — like Paisley — to alter a photo before uploading it to Twitter. It’s the second time Underwood has been a victim of Paisley’s phone. Last month, he tweeted, “Strange who you run into at the proctologist. Err, I mean recording studio.” This picture wasn’t doctored. The two also starred in Paisley’s video for his most recent chart topper, ‘Remind Me.’ While Paisley has just finished his H2O II Tour, Underwood is currently working on a new album. The new project will be her fourth studio album, the first since 2009′s ‘Play On.’

Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift & More to Perform at 2011 CMA Awards.

With less than two months until country music’s biggest night, the first round of 2011 CMA Awards performers were announced this morning. All five Entertainer of the Year nominees will take the stage during the 45th annual awards show. That means plenty of face-time from Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. “I look forward to being able to perform on awards shows,” Urban says in a sound clip provided by his record label. “That is absolute moment that matters most to me is getting to play, because the other stuff is — I don’t know about the other stuff. I know about playing, and that’s the only thing I know about.” Shelton, Aldean, Swift and Paisley lead the CMA nominations with five each. A win in the Entertainer category would be a first for Shelton and Aldean. Swift (2008), Paisley (2010) and Urban (2005) have previously won the award. This year’s CMA Awards will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 9 at 8PM on ABC. Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the show for the third straight year. More presenters and performers will be announced in the weeks leading up to the show.

Carrie and Brad to host CMA Awards a 4th time!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will be back together again in November. They've been picked to host the Country Music Association Awards for a fourth straight year. The 45th annual awards will be aired live Nov. 9 from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on ABC. Paisley is the reigning CMA entertainer of the year. Paisley and Underwood have won 19 CMA awards between them. As Paisley notes in a news release announcing their return, they've achieved a comic chemistry over the years with Underwood's class balancing "my non-class act. I'll try my best to not mess it up." The CMA Awards are the most-watched country awards show. More than 16 million viewers tuned in last year.

Jason Aldean is Mad That Brad Paisley Got Alabama Back Together.

JASON ALDEAN had mixed emotions when he heard BRAD PAISLEY had pulled ALABAMA out of retirement to perform on his single "Old Alabama". On one hand, Jason was happy that his favorite band was back in business. But on the other, he was annoyed that HE wasn't the one who pulled it off. Jason says, quote, "I'm actually kind of mad at Paisley. "I wanted to be the guy that got Alabama out of retirement, and it was him. So, I'm a little upset with him right now. But I'm glad somebody did it. Those guys need to be back at it. I miss hearing them sing together."

Sheryl Crow is Recording a Full-On Country Album and Brad Paisley is Helping Her With It!

This will NOT surprise you. SHERYL CROW is finally plunging all the way into country music. The "Minneapolis Star-Tribune" flat-out asked Sheryl if she's "ready" to make a country album. Sheryl said, quote, "Funny you should ask. I'm working on it right now. I'm doing some work with BRAD PAISLEY. I've been doing a lot of writing. Hopefully it'll be out early next year." As far as what it will sound like, she's going ALL old school. She says, quote, "I had a huge response after I sang 'Coal Miner's Daughter' with LORETTA LYNN." (--on the 'CMA Awards') "That's the kind of country music I really love, the old-fashioned JIMMIE RODGERS, CARTER FAMILY, Loretta Lynn kind of country music. It will be more old-fashioned than it will be new country." It's not clear if Sheryl is making a permanent switch to country, or just doing this one album. She's been living in Nashville for a while and isn't leaving. She said, quote, "I love the people down here. I love the music down here. It just suits me better." Plus, as you know, Sheryl and KID ROCK have had two country singles "Pictures" and "Collide". And she performed on Brad Paisley's song "Life's Railway to Heaven", along with MARTY STUART and CARL JACKSON.

Brad Paisley Believes Fatherhood Has Helped His Songwriting Skills.

Anyone who's been a parent will tell you that having kids changes your life. But does it change your career? It did for BRAD PAISLEY. He said, quote, "Fatherhood changes your beliefs in almost (everything)... "It just shakes you to your core. You feel things deeper. I'm no longer concerned about my safety; I'm concerned for two other human beings' safety, and it makes you that much deeper as a human being. "I think it helps you as a songwriter, because you feel more. Any time you can feel emotion to a deeper level, you can write better."

Brad Paisley Does *Not* Use Twitter for Monetary Gain!

Social networks can be a great marketing tool. But according to BRAD PAISLEY, that doesn't mean people are always going to buy what you're trying to sell. Brad tells "Billboard", quote, "(Twitter) is not as effective as people thought at selling product. That's not why I do it. They found in studies that it depends on the person. "People following CHARLIE SHEEN may not buy things because he tells you to, but people following OPRAH would be more likely to run out and do it if she tells you to do it. I don't know where I fall in that. Probably somewhere between Charlie and Oprah. I don't use it for monetary or career gain. People see through that. I use it for observation and I use it in a way that my fans can see a little bit of my personality."

Brad Paisley Thinks Carrie Underwood is the Best Singer in Any Format

I believe CARRIE UNDERWOOD is one of the best vocalists of her generation. So does BRAD PAISLEY. Carrie is one of the guest performers on Brad's upcoming album "This Is Country Music", which drops May 24th. And even though he knew what to expect, she still blew him away. Brad says, quote, "(Carrie) is the best singer in any format of music, I'm convinced. "Every take, when you hear the song with her, every take that she did sounded exactly as good as what we choose as far as every time she sang it. I am floored by her."
